Senior Pastor

     The Rev. Darren L. Morgan has been serving as our settled pastor since June 1, 2020.  Before coming to Orleans, he served as the Associate Conference Minister of the Maine Conference, United Church of Christ.  After twelve years in this ministry, he discerned a call to leave judicatory ministry to serve (once again) in a local church setting.  Although he was open to God’s Spirit in determining where to serve, he described “living in exile” (Glenburn, Maine) away from the ocean he loves, therefore he purposefully (and prayerfully) considered positions where he felt “at home” close to the water.  Rev. Morgan has been vacationing on Cape Cod for decades and is familiar with Orleans, most particularly biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

     Rev. Morgan holds an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement Technology from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland, Maine; a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from the University of the State of New York, Albany, New York; a Master of Theological Studies and a Master of Divinity (with honors) from Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine.  He has extensive training and skills that will greatly benefit the Federated Church of Orleans.

     A native of York Beach, Maine, Rev. Morgan served in the United States Army as a Criminal Investigator (CID Special Agent) and worked as a Police Officer for the York Police Department before entering seminary.  He is an amateur auctioneer and a fan of HGTV home-improvement shows.  Together for over twenty-eight years, he comes to Orleans with his husband, Mark Baker.

Pastoral Assistant

     The Rev. Deirdre Greenwood White is ordained in the PC(USA). She served four churches in both transitional and settled positions, most recently at the Annisquam Village Church in Gloucester, MA. She has also worked as a fire chaplain, a retreat leader, and on the Metro-Boston Critical Stress Management Team for first responders. She retired in 2019 and moved to Orleans, where she and her husband, Richard, already had a home. It was always Deirdre’s intention to retire on Cape Cod.

     Before going into ministry, she worked in finance in New York City, with both banks and real estate developers. She holds the M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, as well as an M.B.A. from the Simmons Graduate School of Management and a B.A. from Smith College.
 

     Deirdre is a photographer, a Master Gardener, an avid reader and a Trustee of the Snow Library. She and Richard enjoy traveling and being outside on the beaches, on the water, and in the woods of the Cape, often in the company of their Norwich Terrier, Rufus.

Ministries Assistant

     Katie has lived in South Orleans for 11 years.  Her husband, Jim, is now a permanent resident at Wingate-Harwich, due to two strokes.  She has been married for 10 years.  Her previous husband died on 9/11, and she has one daughter and her husband who live in Santa Barbara, CA.  And she has a new grandson named Parker who just turned 6 months old!

     Katie has worked in Boston, New York City (13 years), London, Paris, and Johannesburg.  She has had various titles, Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, etc.  Her last job before joining us was as a manager of a non-profit organization in Wellfleet.

     Katie grew up in Brookline, MA and is the oldest of 5 children.  She attended Katherine Gibbs School and graduated with an Associate’s Degree.  She volunteers at Wingate-Harwich when she can.

Minister of Music

     Glenn brings to us exceptional keyboard and conducting skills, as well as a deep faith and love for all the ways music enhances spiritual expression and worship experience.  He expressed this thought beautifully by saying "music is worship."  He holds a B.A. in piano performance and a Masters in Music Education. His professional career has included both solo work and accompanying on piano and organ, directing choirs and ensembles, and coaching vocal soloists. Glenn’s repertoire features sacred classical selections and traditional hymns, as well as over 350 romantic selections from the early 1900s to the present including musical stage, film, folk music, jazz, and American and international pop. Additionally, Glenn has a love for theatre and is active on the Cape as musical director, accompanist, and occasionally an actor in productions at Eventide Theater Company, Chatham Drama Guild, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Falmouth Theatre Guild, Provincetown Theater, and Harwich Junior Theater.

     Glenn resides in Harwich with his husband, Randy.

Director of the Handbell Choir ~ Nauset Ringers

     Shortly after earning his B.Mus. degree in 1982, Thom Dutton was a featured singer at a wedding. It happened that his accompanist was a harpist, and that was his first enchantment with the harp. He moved from New York to Massachusetts the following year; unable to transport his piano with him, he began playing the harp instead. Thus began a span of thirty years playing the harp at more than 1,400 performances.

     Over the years, Thom Dutton has been recognized with multiple awards. His honors include the Judge’s Overall Performance Award for Outstanding Musicianship at the New England Regional Folk Harp Competition and twice silver medalist at the Mid-Atlantic Folk Harp Competition. He has also received awards for playing incidental music for live theatrical productions: The Evelyn Lawson Award from the Association for Community Theater Excellence for “Eleemosynary” and a Certificate of Recognition Honoring Outstanding Achievement from the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters for “Three Tall Women”. Thom has recorded five critically acclaimed CDs and has published more than a dozen books of harp music.

     Thom has been the Director of the Nauset Ringers at The Federated Church of Orleans since January 2017 where he fosters the sense of ensemble that comes with the most unique musical experience on the planet!

Financial Clerk

     Amy attended church in the 1980s with her mother & has been a member ever since. She joined the handbell choir in 1994 & still enjoys playing with the group. She owns an animal care business which she began in 1990.  She enjoys volunteering time for the AIDS support group of Cape Cod in Provincetown.

     Amy lives in Orleans with her husband, Bill, and 2 children, Ryan, & Courtney, both of whom were baptized in the church as infants and have been active in Sunday School and Youth activities.

Live-Streaming Tech

     Mark Baker is a native of Maine and moved to The Cape in 2020 after a long career in healthcare, first as a Medical Technologist, accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists, and then as a Senior Systems Analyst for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (now Northern Light Health) before his retirement. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maine. Mark has served as the Live-Streaming Tech at FCO since the church launched this ministry in December of 2020. He is a classically trained pianist and occasionally participates in the music ministry at FCO.

Sexton

     Leo Ferron is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Before moving to The Cape, Leo lived in Boston and Manchester, NH. He comes from a large family - 7 boys and 7 girls! Leo previously worked at Roland Institute at Harvard as a Maintenance Superintendent and at Park Street Condos in Brookline, MA. Leo is recently divorced and lives in Hyannis.

Director - Nan Cook Meeting House Preschool

     Maureen has been here for 20 years.   She started her journey as a preschool parent, then went back to school, and evolved to become the Director.

     She lives in Brewster with her husband, Chris, and her two sons, Christopher and Michael.

Teacher - Nan Cook Meeting House Preschool

     Nancy grew up in a small town in central Massachusetts summering on Cape Cod as a child and during her college years. She attended Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she received a Bachelor's in Science degree and a Master's degree in Education.  She began teaching at Orleans Elementary School in the fall of 1987 and retired in June of 2020.

     She resides in Orleans with her high school sweetheart and husband, Tim.  She has three adult children, Shannon, Michael and Kali, and one amazing grandson, Jack.
