Music calendar - Spring 2018
EASTER! ….and beyond!
Despite all the humor around Easter 2018 falling on April 1, it ALWAYS feels like a new beginning to me. Seems peculiarly fitting that it would come on the first day of this month when much of nature is springing to the new life of another season of growth. Those little bulbs and seeds and roots have worked all winter under the snow getting ready for this precise moment. GROW! BLOOM! REJOICE! CHRIST IS RISEN!
Now what? Life is for living and enjoying, for thriving in the energy and putting it to good and con-sistent use. The music continues at Federated Church of Orleans. There’s something here for EVERYONE!
EVERY MONDAY from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – Nauset Ringers rehearse. They have Worship performances scheduled for April 22 – EARTH DAY 2018! – and May 20 – PENTECOST 2018! – and June 18 – FCO SPRING MUSICALE!
EACH WEDNESDAY at 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. – The Chancel Choir gathers to rehearse. Membership in the Chancel Choir is OPEN to ALL AGES! We have new music in our folders and we’re branching out to include a wider range of musical types and styles. Yes, rehearsals are “work” but they’re FUN WORK! Special emphases are planned for the “Family Worship” Sundays, for Earth Day, for Pentecost, for Communion Sundays (April 8, May 6, June 3) and for the Annual Spring Musicale! GET INVOLVED. COME SING WITH US. “Make a joyful noise!”
Saturday, April 14! First Parish Brewster: SING FOR GOOD! – Our chancel choir is participating in this third annual combined choirs “community sing” under the direction of Danica Buckley. We’ll present a couple of our recent anthems, share a couple of our favorite hymns in a hymn sing with the gathered congregation, and participate in two numbers sung by the combined choirs! Rehearsal gathering is at 5:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 6, 10:00 a.m. – Guest musicians Fred Fried, 8-string master jazz guitarist, and Peggy Gerber, our “favorite Cape flutist”, will grace the morning worship with Prelude, Offertory and Postlude. Federated Church of Orleans is fortunate to have contact with this caliber of Cape musician, and grateful for their willingness to bring their artistry to share here.
Sunday, June 10, 3:00 p.m. – Nth DEGREE “Time Warp”. The final iteration of this season’s chamber music series presented by members of The Cape Symphony. A wonderful new partnership has formed this year. FCO is delighted to host these concerts and the incredibly blended audience that gathers for the occasion. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through the Church Office. Mark your calendars now! Plan to enjoy!
Sunday, June 18, 10:00 a.m. – ANNUAL SPRING MUSICALE. Mark your calendars NOW to en-joy a worship service that includes ALL THE MUSICAL RESOURCES of Federated Church of Orleans!
