Morning Epiphany

As I step from my porch just before dawn cold silvery air surrounds me
The morning star hangs alone above shadowy roofs and a slice of new moon swings beyond the pines
Somewhere in the distance I sense the sigh of the sea
I stand for a moment to listen
A cardinal sings his urgent song and his mate answers from a far treetop
If all I have is this moment it is enough
