Care for Creation Corner April 2018
The Care for Creation committee (C4C) has been at work for the last two years to reduce our environmental footprint which resulted in the Federated Church being designated a Level One Green Congregation. We want to continue the momentum and are working towards Level Two (of three levels). One of the ways we are doing this is to engage individual members - that is any of you who want to do more!! Beginning in April we will have a weekly “Green Tip” in the bulletin and continue with a regular update in the Parish Visitor.
The C4C committee has decided to establish an action alert team made up of individuals prepared to take actions as needed. Members of the team, who are Larry Minear, Jeff Talmadge and Cheri Tyree, will monitor developments and apprise people of particular activities where your presence, or phone call or letter writing in support of or against proposed environmental legislation might make a difference. We are calling this entity Act for Creation. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the Vestry if you would like to be added to this citizen action for the environment committee. One recent alert was to register a comment with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management against off-shore drilling on the US continental shelf. We will send out e-mail blasts to the list no more than 10-12 times per year.
If you have any ideas you would like to share with the committee, please contact any one of us or feel free to attend our monthly meeting, usually held on the second Sunday of the month following the service.
