Nauset Regional High School Choral Concert

The Nauset Regional High School Vocal Music Department is widely known for its quality musical experience for their students and for their amazingly competent and inspiring performance. We are delighted that they have chosen our Sanctuary as venue for an important spring concert featuring THREE of their select ensembles directed by Mr. Tom Faris. You’ll want to join the parents and friends of these young people for a memorable concert of choral music, some of which they will have performed in the Basilica of Notre Dame in Montreal! There is no admission charge for this concert. A free-will offer-ing will be taken to benefit the Choral Department of Nauset Regional High School.

Welcome GUEST MUSICIANS to The Federated Church of Orleans

April was a BANNER month for visiting musicians. Peggy Gerber, flautist, provided wonderfully serene selections for Prelude, Offertory and Postlude on April 2. Joanne Bodley, pianist, was back for Palm Sunday to enhance the congregation-al singing along with the organ, as well as accompany the choir in a rousing anthem AND play Prelude and Postlude duets with Glenn at the organ. Easter Sunday’s service featured Mr. Thom Bober, trumpet, in Prelude, Postlude and hymn accompaniments. And Lary Chaplan, violinist with the Cape Cod Symphony, brought Bach and Handel selections to the April 30 service. Further, Mr. Richard Busch will be guest organist on Sunday, May 28.

It’s a delight to welcome these guest participants in our worship. The budget includes a line item for these expenses, but that can also be directly enhanced with special designated contributions. Our Minister of Music has contact with a wide range of highly talented musicians in our area and is delighted for every opportunity to share their gifts in our worship. Two things happen in this process: (1) we experience some of the BEST musical resources available! And (2) these musicians have opportunities to perform for attentive, appreciative audiences. Your participation in this ongoing effort is highly valued and encouraged.

The Chancel Choir has done a beautiful job providing choral enhancement to our worship via Introits, Responses, Anthems, New Hymns, etc. On Wednesday, April 26, a WHOLE NEW SEASON began. Encompassing the remainder of April, all of May and most of June, we’ll continue our worship involvement. New music has been and is being ordered to bring NEW SOUNDS and TEXTS to your attention. A MAJOR event of the season will be another fabulous MUSIC SUNDAY on June 18. This will likely be on par with December’s music Sunday, only the available resources have grown considerably. Stay tuned for more excitement. “No voice is insignificant. No voice is indispensable.”
