A baptism, "Forever Young"
On Saturday, September 18th, Pastor Norris officiated at a baptism of Vivian, our seven month- old grand daughter in a wonderful ceremony in our back yard. It was a very lovely and moving day. As part of the ceremony, Vivian’s nine-year-old cousin, Sophia, read the lyrics from the Bob Dylan song, "Forever Young."
Being a Dylan fan from the sixties, I was familiar with the words, but had to admit not really listening to them for many years.
It struck me that with the times being what they are and our recognition of that by sponsoring the October 15th Community Concert for Peace and Harmony, these lyrics have a special message for each us:
May God bless you and keep you always May your wishes all come true May you do for others and let others do for you May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung May you stay forever young
May you grow up to be righteous May you grow up to be true May you always know the truth and see lights surrounding you May you always be courageous Stand upright and be strong
May your hands always be busy May your feet always be swift May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift May your heart always be joyful May your song always be sung May you stay forever young
Inspiring words from a great musical philosopher. May we all stay forever young.
