Justice Committee Report July 2016
The Justice Committee is excited about several programs that are in the process of development. One of the reasons that makes the work of our committee exciting is having five members of the Am HaYam Haverah congregation as a part of this group.
Our two congregations are planning a program with Fozia Ahamed and her Husband, who are a part of the Muslim Community. We have been asked to hold a “Conservations” program; an event that will be held either the second or third Sunday of October in the afternoon.
One of the results from Rabbi Lerner’s presentation is to form a Network of Spiritual Progres-sives. Interested persons will meet at Sharon Leder’s home on August 23rd, to begin the formation of the group. The national network is proposing an Environmental and Social amendment to the US Constitution.
Please see Rod McDonald’s article concerning the refugee issue that is one of the priorities of our committee.
Under the leadership of Sharon Leder we are continuing our work on the Opioid Crisis on the Cape.
