Lighting the Peace Candle
Lighting the Peace Candle today seems to me to have a special deep meaning – after a week of the horrors in Orlando and a week of the strident voices of politicians on the television and radio.
Where can we find Peace today? We are here together in our small church on beautiful Cape Cod and we are gathered because we are looking for solace and quiet Peace – the peace of being together in the presence of God and people we love, a place of people of action and hope – of positive energy and solidarity.
As we wrote in our Covenant,
“To work toward a time of Peace for all
people – trusting in an unknown future”
and as Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you!”
So go forth this day as a people of Faith, Kindness, and Peace. Amen.
