Trustee Meeting June 2016

Ernie Rogers informed the Trustees that he will be serving as temporary treasurer for the Meeting House Preschool until a permanent treasurer is in place.

A Preschool Summer Maintenance Committee was formed with Steve Downs as Chairperson; members include Mike McDonald, Ernie Rogers, Liz Jones, Craig Fischer, and Maureen Vigneau. At the first meeting the school's maintenance schedule was reviewed and discussed. Some items have already been completed. Other items will be addressed after close of school. The majority of the items are minor and can be corrected easily and with minimal cost.

The Boston Lightning Rod Co. will begin lightning protection construction on the church building on Monday, June 27th. Total cost is $22,275 which is being funded 50% by the church's Capital account and 50% by the Town of Orleans Community Preservation Committee funds.

Solar installation plans are in progress with My Generation Energy. The location being considered is the bioswale in the rear parking lot and additional space, if needed, in the grassy area behind the main parking lot. The property committee having been advised of some members' memorial plantings in or near the bioswale, is attempting to identify these plantings for possible replanting if in the way of the proposed project. My Generation Energy will submit a Purchase Power Agreement for our review. There will be no monetary outlays for the church and annual savings is estimated to be between 25% - 30%. of annual Eversource energy costs.

The Stewardship Committee hosted a lunch following church on 5 June, which was part of the Planned Giving Campaign. A panel of speakers (Stuart Nickerson from Cape Cod 5, Brooks Thayer, Esquire, and Ernie Rogers) presented an informational session about Planned Giving options. The new Planned Giving brochures were inserted in the June Parish Visitor and are also available at the church. Anyone interested in learning more or who has questions answered is encouraged to contact Ernie Rogers, Carl Ericson or any member of the Trustees. Outright unrestricted gifts or future bequests will greatly benefit the sustainability of the church and its mission for generations to come and be a lasting legacy for the benefactor. A second information session will be held in September. The date is yet to be determined.
