Local Mission February meeting minutes

The Local Mission Committee continued to focus on supporting charitable organizations on the Lower and Outer Cape in 2015, disbursing almost $80,000 from the Virginia Cook Trust Fund, $2,000 from the Mildred Chamberlin Fund, and more than $10,000 from other church funds including the Local Mission Outreach Fund and proceeds from the Santa Fe raffle.

The major beneficiaries were Habitat for Humanity, the Homeless Prevention Council, the Lower Cape Outreach Council, Cape Cod Children’s Place, Nauset Together We Can, Food for Kids, the Meeting House Preschool (housed in our church), the Masonic Angels school programs (which used some of our money to buy more than 100 winter coats for needy children in local schools last winter), Calmer Choice, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cape Mediation, and the Latham Centers of Brewster.

We also contributed to: Independence House, the Federal Church Prayer Shawl Ministry, Cape Cod AIDS Support, CapeAbilities Farm, Orleans Fireman’s Relief, A Baby Center, and Faith Kitchen.

If you know of a deserving charity on the Lower or Outer Cape that you would like us to consider, please contact me or any member of the Local Mission Committee. Our next meeting will be on the 18th of March.
